Staff Feature: Checking in with Jolyn in 2025

It’s been a while since we caught up with Jolyn, so let’s see what she’s been working on! 🧶 If you’ve been following along with our podcast, you might already have some hints—but now’s your chance to get the full scoop on her current projects, knitting plans, and how she's planning to tackle her WIP pile this year.

Interview

Do you have a game plan for tackling your projects this year, or is it more of a cast-on-as-you-go situation?
I aim to finish more projects than I start, so I need to focus on my WIPs!

Do you have a “Make 9” list or a rough idea of projects you want to complete this year?
I’ve got a “Finish 9” list! To help reach my goal of more FOs, I’ve selected six projects to focus on, organized from oldest to newest, in different categories. I didn’t want to overcommit, so I’ve left three spots open—let’s see what the year brings!

What’s currently on your needles (or hook)? Any exciting WIPs or long-lost projects making a comeback?
I've mostly been working on socks.

Are there any techniques or skills you’re hoping to try (or finally master) in 2025?
Nothing I want to master, but I would like to do more spinning.

What’s your go-to project when you need a quick win or a bit of motivation?
Easy brain things, probably socks.

Any particular yarn or colorway you’re obsessed with right now?
No really. But I do love Malabrigo.

Be honest—how many projects are currently in hibernation?
I believe there were 16 project I didn't touch at all last year.

If you could only knit or crochet one type of project all year, what would it be?
If we are talking project based it would be dbe socks. If we are talking stitch based it would be the knit stitch. Stockinette or garter. A simple blanket like Excavation by Jana Pihota. Garter stitch, no ends to weave in.

Any tips for managing WIPs and keeping track of projects (or do you just embrace the chaos)?
Do as I say, not as I do! I’m in no position to give advice—offering tips would be downright hypocritical.

What’s the best part of starting a new project—and the hardest part of finishing one?
Dopamine and lack of dopamine.

It’s always fun catching up with Jolyn and hearing about her creative journey! Whether it’s socks, spinning, or tackling that WIP pile, she’s got a game plan for 2025, and we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. Do you think she'll end the year with more FO's?

Thanks for sharing your plans, Jolyn—and for the reminder that we’re all in this creative chaos together! Keep on making, and we’ll be cheering you on every stitch of the way. 🧡🧶
