Lento - A Knit Stitch Report

Lento - A Knit Stitch Report

We thought it a great time to highlight another popular pattern that Tara has made multiples to play with how the garment looks in different yarn combos.

Have you come across Lento by Jonna Helin (Laine Publishing)? It’s a great alternative to the famous Cozy Classic Raglan by Jessie Mae and a wonderful knit regardless if you are a beginner or a veteran!

Lento is a closet staple – a simple and timeless sweater that is knitted from the top down, in the round with raglan increases.  It’s the perfect pullover for spring as a layering piece when it gets breezy. Tara highly recommends it.

It requires fingering weight yarn and is knit with 6 mm (!) needles. So it’s a satisfying, relatively quick, knit and creates a beautiful airy drape.  The instructions are really well written (as we would expect with Laine!).

Let’s explore what Tara has made (so far) in Lento.  First Lento up is made with Leo & Roxy 80/20 sock yarn in her favourite colour way Lucky Charms.  She held the sock yarn double to get a DK weight and it has created a lovely airy drape fabric.  It’s substantial but not heavy or bulky.  So far she’s worn it many times!

Tara then went with what the pattern suggested and knit another Lento in Leo and Roxy 80/20 sock in Call Me paired with our new to store “fuzzy” yarn Holst Garn Lucia in Storm.  And oh me oh my this has created the most luxurious, super soft, drapey sweater in her wardrobe. It is light as a feather and feels like you are wearing a hug.

Are you interested in knitting this? We can help! Come into to the shop or reach out to us via email and we can help you pair the perfect for you combo.

P.S. Laine is have a Lento Love KAL right now! It runs from April 6 to May 6 on Instagram @laine_magazine. You can participate by posting your Lento sweater progress with the hashtag #lentolovekal.
