Advanced Weaving: Tea Towels on a Rigid Heddle
Learn to Weave Tea Towels on your Rigid Heddle Loom.
In this 3.5-hour class, you will learn to weave your own beautiful set of cotton tea towels on your rigid heddle loom. This is a great class to expand your skill set. Plus, handwoven tea towels make great gifts!
Each towel is approximately 27”x 17” after it's been washed and dried.
Requirements
- Weaving 101
- We recommend that you also take our Weaving 102: Coasters class, or have at least a couple of project underhand.
- This is NOT a beginner class. You must have experience creating a balanced weave.
Materials to Bring
- 24" or larger Rigid Heddle Loom and all that comes with it (clamps, warp pegs and clamp, hook)
- Stick shuttle
- Cardboard dividers
- Tape measure, just a plain tape measure, seamstress style (no case) to keep measurements on the towel as you weave
- Paper for separating the warp, if you have
- 10 DPI Heddle
- 2 colours, one cone of each, of 2/8 Weaving Cotton included
- Some 32" rigid heddle looms are available to rent at an extra cost. If you need to rent a loom for the class, please make sure you come into the store to rent one beforehand to ensure we have one available. A cash deposit is required for loom rentals, a $5.00 fee will be applied for debit or credit transactions.
Duration & Format
- Two in person class. First night is 1.5hrs, second night is 2.5hrs.
Additional Information
- All classes require a minimum of 3 students so invite a friend to come with you!
- In the event that the minimum is not met, you will receive an email notification 5 days before the class to notify you that the class has been rescheduled/cancelled.
