The word literally means “\u003cspan\u003ebinding\u003c\/span\u003e with a needle,” and that describes this technique rather effectively. In essence, it’s \u003cspan\u003ebinding\u003c\/span\u003e stitches together with a single needle and short lengths of yarn to create textiles.
