Fibre Bases
Targhee Bamboo Silk: 80% targhee, 10% bamboo, 10% tussah silk |100g | 24 microns | 100 mm staple
- Targhee is a wonderfully soft wool. It is a very strong fibre with excellent elasticity and silky feel when spun. The silk and bamboo and shine and dimension to an already fabulous wool.
Merino Alpaca: 67% merino, 23% alpaca | 100g | 23 microns | 75-80 mm staple
- The blend of Alpaca and Merino wool will produce a light, bulky yarn, perfect for winter weather garments. It's also buttery soft and incredibly easy and forgiving to spin. Making it great for beginners.
Merino Silk Flax: 50% merino, 25% tussah silk, 25% flax | 100g | 23 microns | 75-80mm staple
- The soft merino blended with tussah silk and natural flax fibre produce a uniquely textured combed top and finished yarn. The silk gives it a lot of shine while the flax add a more rustic feel to the unspun fibre. It's amazing to see how the flax changes once it's spun and washed. The key to spinning this fibre is to pre-draft a lot. This will ensure that the wool, silk and flax are blended throughout the finished yarn.
Polwarth: 100% polwarth combed top | 100g | 22-25 microns | 125-175 mm staple
- Polwarth is the perfect go-to fibre when you just need to spin, but don’t want to think to much. It is easy to spin any way you like, thick or thin, woolen or worsted. Polwarth will produce a yarn that has a nice drape, elasticity and bounce. It is next to skin soft, feltable and just an all-round perfect fibre!
Made in Canada
Each item we make is unique, and no two braids will ever look entirely the same, even within dye lots. We do our best to represent colours accurately, however variation will occur between screens.
All of our yarn is hand-dyed using professional acid based dyes and washed afterwards with scent-free detergents. Some bleeding may still occur after the first wash. We recommend hand washing and laying flat to dry. All yarn and fibre is processed in our smoke free, pet friendly home.
