DIY Colourwork Hat or Cowl with Jane
Join Jane to learn colourwork for the first time, or to expand your knowledge and explore patterning more deeply as you create your own hat or cowl using Tin Can Knit’s Anthology: a colour work hat and cowl recipe.
Requirements
- Comfortable with knit, purl, cast on/off.
Materials
- Download the Anthology pattern, printed copies will be available.
- 2 or more colours of your chosen weight of yarn. We recommend using Peer Gynt or Croft for Aran weight and Patagonia or Leo & Roxy’s BFL for DK weight. Yardage and details below for adult size, please see pattern for full chart on yardage for various sizes.
- Needles for your chosen weight, see chart below
- Stitch markers, darning needle.

Needles
- HAT - DPNs in larger size & 16” circulars in both sizes or 32” circulars in both sizes if you are comfortable with magic loop.
- COWL - 16” circulars in both sizes.
Additional Information
- All classes require a minimum of 3 students so invite a friend to come with you!
- In the event that the minimum is not met, you will receive an email notification 5 days before the class to notify you that the class has been rescheduled/cancelled.
- In accordance with provincial guidelines, masks will not be mandatory. It will be left up to the individual teachers and students to decide if they want to wear one.
