Spilly Jane Knits Mittens is the book. Mittens is the game!
Woodsmoke and starlings, peasant thumbs, stripes, cupcakes and gnomes, gnomes, gnomes. Enter the magical world of SpillyJane, where mittens become a whimsical miniature canvas of knitting delight.”
Jane Dupuis, designer of fabulous mitten patterns inspired by everything from food and architecture to fairyland, will be visiting us at Little Red Mitten for a Trunk Show & Book (or pattern) Signing.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 7 and plan to join us at 1:00 pm. Jane will be available to answer questions and sign stuff for the afternoon. And… she’s bringing oh so many samples of her mittens! Many are in her book Spilly Jane Knits Mittens (available for puchase in store as a Ravelry download or you can pick up a hard copy at the Book Signing) and many are available as individual downloads on Ravelry. (Again, you can purchase these in store at Little Red Mitten.)
Here are some of my favourites…
Of the book, Kate Davies writes,
“Her work combines invention with precision, and creative energy with discipline in a way that I find quite unique among today’s hand-knit designers… If you love making mittens, this tome is an essential addition to your bookshelf. And if you have never knit a pair, the following pages will show you how.”
…and the Yarn Harlot, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, says:
“I have a secret. I have been trying to resist something for a long time, and it turns out that I can’t. I give up. Uncle. I am obsessed with SpillyJane and her mittens. I can’t stop thinking about them and it’s been going on for months.”
Hope to see you on May 7th!
