Soctober Sock Drive

Socktober Socks

Help us to ensure those who are in need of shelter have warm toes this winter! During the month of October, please bring a donation of socks to the Little Red Mitten (store-bought is fine; cotton or wool; adult men/women is the greatest need).

According to Jim Nace, Program Director, Inn out of the Cold had 350 individuals using their services in St. Thomas last year. They are always in need of socks. So, in keeping with the Socktober initiative, let’s see how many feet we can cover this year!

#SOCKTOBER is an annual, month-long campaign designed to show people that ordinary acts of love can make a big difference. It all starts with socks. Partnering with shelters and individuals, the initiative helps to ensure that men and women who are living on the street have access to such basic needs as socks, hygiene products and more.

They want to see everyone – schools, businesses, families – all engaged in realizing they each have the ability to create big change right in their own backyard. By using the hashtag #socktober they gather stories, images, and videos from their online communities to help piece together a large message to the world that is full of hope.

Let’s be part of this story, right here in St. Thomas, Ontario!

Simply bring your sock donation to the shop and we’ll deliver them to Inn Out of the Cold in early November.
